Five million-dollar homes sold in four days at Mediterra

Naples, FL (Feb. 29, 2012) –Mediterra is setting the pace for luxury home sales in the Southwest Florida market, with sales of five new homes – each priced over $1 million – recorded in only four days and a total of eight contracts in only 15 days.

The contracts include single-family estate homes, maintenance-free villas and two model homes still under construction. Four of the contracts were signed on four consecutive days, according to Mark Wilson, president of London Bay Homes, which manages the sales and marketing operations at Mediterra and is the builder of two model homes that sold in rapid succession.

These are encouraging numbers,” he said. “We haven’t seen this type of explosive activity in some time. We believe there are two reasons: Buyers are recognizing the incredible values available now, and they also see the incomparable lifestyle offered at Mediterra.”

Sales at Mediterra have shown a steady increase since 2009, doubling from that year’s

$47 million to more than $90 million in 2010. Sales in 2011 reached nearly $100 million.

Mediterra’s sales activity illustrates a trend Realtors are noticing throughout Southwest Florida: the return of the luxury homebuyer. And many of those buyers are honing in on the 1,700-acre master-planned community, where resort-style amenities – combined with a Mediterranean ambience and a range of luxury homes by 10 award-winning builders – complement their lifestyles.

Mediterra offers custom single-family estate homes, maintenance-free villas and coach homes in several neighborhoods. Recently introduced floorplans and new pricing opportunities are designed to meet buyer’s demand for functionality, flexibility and competitive pricing, ranging from the $600,000s to more than $7 million.

Visitors can tour nine model homes at Mediterra every Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. from March 4 through April 1 during the community’s Model Homes Showcase, a fundraiser for the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples.

Four of Naples’ finest art galleries will feature original works of art in four all-new showcase model homes, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the museum: Clyde Butcher Photography, Sheldon Fine Art, The Sultan Gallery and The Sweet Art Gallery.

The showcase is open to the public and registration is not required. While the event is free, attendees have the option of making a $5 donation to benefit the children’s museum.

Mediterra, located along Livingston Road in north Naples, is the seven-time winner of the Collier Building Industry Association’s Sand Dollar Award for best community. More than 1,000 acres of the community are dedicated to golf, parks and nature preserves, with no more than 950 planned homes.

Its member-owned amenities include 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed championship golf, with membership limited to just 225 members per 18 holes. A limited number of new club memberships are still available and are offered exclusively to new home purchasers.

The Club at Mediterra also offers the Golf Learning Center, featuring indoor and outdoor hitting stations, video equipment with launch monitor, a 2.5-acre short game practice complex with three greens, and a staff of certified PGA professionals.

Mediterra’s 25,000-square-foot clubhouse offers fine and casual dining. The adjoining Sports Club features five tennis courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center with spa facilities, a swimming pool and two bocce courts.

The community’s neighborhoods, amenities and three themed parks are linked by eight miles of bicycle and walking paths.

Mediterra also offers the private 10,000-square-foot Beach Club with dining, a full bar and elevated pool and sun decks along the Gulf of Mexico. Beach Club valets provide members with everything from beach chairs and umbrellas to pool- and beachside beverage service.
