Mediterra Names Wallace New General Manager & CEO

July 14, 2011 -- Mediterra’s Board of Directors recently hired Tom Wallace at the Club’s new General Manager and Chief Executive Officer. Tom comes to Mediterra after serving for nine years at the world renowned Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. During his years at Oakmont, Tom built an outstanding leadership team, taking the club to nationally recognized "Comfortable Excellence" membership service levels, while doubling food and beverage revenues. In 2007, Tom was the national winner of the "Excellence in Club Management Award" from the McMahon Group private club consulting firm and Club & Resort Business Magazine. He is known for meeting and exceeding the expectations of his members with outstanding staff and exceptional management teams. One of his trademarks is world-class staff training. He has a long history of outstanding customer service experience and leadership at premier clubs.

Oakmont has hosted more national championships (18) than any other club in the United States, including the 2003 U.S. Amateur, 2007 Men's U.S. Open and the 2010 Women's U.S. Open, all under Tom's leadership. The Club is currently ranked seventh on the prestigious "Platinum Clubs of America" list, moving up from 20 during Tom's tenure. Oakmont was also awarded the 2008 American Culinary Federation Award of Excellence as well as the coveted CMAA International Award of Merit for their wine program. Prior to Oakmont, Tom worked for fourteen years at The Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio, working his way up from shining shoes to Interim General Manager and taking on just about every other job in between. Oakmont hired him as their General Manager when he was only 29, seeing his potential as a great leader.
